Just curious as to how big everyones collection is. I have about 100 US Silver coins, mostly Walkers & Barber Half Dollars, Standing Liberty quarters and a few dimes & nickels. A 5 lb jar if unresearched wheat peenies that I have had for almost 39 years. From my childhood piggy bank (who knows what is in there), and about 100 or so foriegn coins that I have gathered without even trying. Not the biggest or best collection but it is growing and getting better all the time. I have only really been collecting for about a year or so,

    Cheers !

I doubt that we have enough to meet the deductible on my homeowner's policy.

    But we're still having fun!

I guess it is like asking a person how much money you have in the bank?

My collection? Way more than others and also, way less than others.

    I have it SO easy!

I have no idea how many different coins and whatnot I have, except I know:

    around 1500 wheat cents
    3 Morgan dollars :(
    1 Peace Dollar
    3 Ike Dollars
    3 SBA dollars
    2 Sacagawea dollars
    2 Frankling halves (both proof, 62, 63)
    19 Kennedy Halves
    6 IH cents
    5 Liberty Nickels
1 Barber dime-------(a few on the way)
1 Barber Quarter--- (a few on the way)

    But anyway, about me having it so easy as a collector. I am 16 and the first collector in my family for generations, maybe even ever. I mean serious collector. Just about everyone hangs onto interesting coins, or obselete coins. So I get everything my family has. Every time I visit someone, I get some new stuff. I have people looking for coins they saved, like all 4 of my grandparents, and my uncle's collection of buffalo nickels. My latest additions to the collection have been: a newer Australia dollar(cousin-exhcange program);
Guatemala 1 quetzal(aunt who adopted boys from there); Mexico 100 pesos(grandparents-vacation); and the obselete Iraq 250 dinars note featuring Saddam(grandparents). They are rolling in all the time, too. I have coins coming my way from Bulgaria, Peru, and Antigua.

I envy you all... I have a total of less than 200 coins, all of those 20th century and all circulated heavily. About half are U.S. coins and the others are from many various countries.

Although, I just started collecting a week ago so I can't really expect to have millions of coins anyway. I'll keep adding to my collection and eventually I'll have quite a few. :smile

Let's see, about 300 world coins... about 60 US coins for my type set, not including the Whitman folders for Indian Head Cents, Lincoln cents, Jefferson nickels, Mercury dimes, Roosevelt dimes (complete clad set!), Kennedly halves (complete)... then have 1972, 2000, 2005, 2006 proof sets, a 1965 East Caribbean States proof sent, uncirculated 1951 crown, 2000 silver pound proof, 2006 Canadian wolf, 2006 proof ASE, and a box full of misc. extra world coins and wheat cents. Have a small currency collection too, lol... a lot still loose as I haven't got around to getting more pages for it.

And it still seems way too small.

Brings up something I have wondered about for a long time. Who does have the most valuable Coin collection? Privately held of course.

Size is not something too much of a matter. I mean, you can convert a single dollar coin and receive 100 cents, and all of them can be unique if you trade, exchange, etc. :)

Get a Red Book. See pages 395 to 398. "Great Collectors and Collections of the Past"
Then go to a really big coin show. Lots of dealers there have really big collections. If you robbed people like many dealers do, you to could have a valuable collection. :) :)
