    Team,

I'm looking for any help I can get with this coin. It's a pretty nice 1811 Capped Bust Half with the die lump between the 8 and the 1. It looks to be a O-102 (R-4) because the milling is pretty much non-existent but the location of the T and I are WAY off and there is no penetration of line 1 and 3 into the wing. The O-101 is also not possible based upon the presence of milling which this one doesn't have or the dot between bars 4 and 5 on the shield. I think those arte the only two choices I have with the die lump between the 8 and 1???

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    Bone

The lump between the 8 and the one as well as the spike on the top of the cap confirm that it is obverse one and it looks like reverse A to me based on the alignment of the ends of the scroll (left end under the far right lower serif of E1 and the right end under the far right end of the lower serif of A2) as well as the T/I alignment, meaning that I believe it to be an o-101. It just looks like a very late die state to me. Basically your coin was created only a few coins before the reverse die (rev A) failed and was replaced. It was at that time that the obverse stars 1-7 were reworked and since yours are flat yours must have been a 101, made before the reverse was replaced.
