This post will probably very anti-climatic for most, but I wanted to tell some one about my find.

I search penny boxes from time to time to pick out the 95% coppers, and the wheat's. Mostly all the wheat's I find are from the 40's and 50's, rarely will I find one from the 30' and never from the 20's. Well I just found one from 1918!

I know its one of the more common early dates, but it was still cool seeing that 1 after the 9 instead of a 4 or 5.

Always a thrill to find an oldie. I've gotten wheats from the teens from the change machine at Safeway.

I very rarely have come across wheaties from the teens, haven't gotten one that old in several years.
I am amazed that a coin could circulate for almost 100 years!

It's always great to find dates from the teens in a box! I have only found 2 in the 11 or so boxes that I have done (both in the same box- 1910 and 1919).

Wish I could erase many years! When I first started collecting the mercury dimes , SLQs, etc. were very common in change, and an Indian Head cent would show up every once in a while. Now the wheats are very rare to get in change, and that'll be true of the Lincoln Memorials before too much time passes.

25 years from now I think people searching will have a hard time finding cents from before 1980.

I totally agree. Now would be the time to start hoarding uncirculated and AU Memorial cents, or any Memorials. I can see the day in the future when people selling "unsearched" rolls of coins on Ebay will have a Memorial cent on the ends to lure people in paying ridiculous prices for a roll. :)

I've got almost 3 boxes of the copper cents, but I am only saving the zincolns if they are in really good condition (I have about 5 rolls of them).

And anything later with the way they're all rotting away. One little ding and corrosion sets in.
