    I see question marks . . . This coin has been re-engraved.

Personally, I think this qualifies less as collectible coinage and more as modern art.

What surprised me was the seller of the coin.

If the slab don't say it... these are the reasons why CAC is starting a grading service. Because even the top TPG miss stuff. Oh yea and David Lawrence...

@Publius2 here you go! The latest half dime for your set! The only one of its variety! Very scarce!

I'm going for it. Let me just cash in the IRA and 401k and mortgage the house.

Ok. I must be missing something. Can someone let me in on the joke?
That looks like a legit 1839 No Drape to me.

See Post #6. You're new here I think. Read everything before asking. Much less grief.

The better question is, how do you know? What are you looking at that tells you "engraved". And honestly, what does that even mean? Someone went back in and sharpened up the details on the coin itself? I did a quick Google search and didn't find anything about altering coins by engraving. Other than the Kennedy pennies and the like. Just curious. If anyone cares to explain.

Whew, for a brief minute there I thought you may be a good candidate for an intervention...I see you have a solid plan, carry on.

Check out the spacing and the shape of the letters in "LIBERTY" for starters.

Yeah. Three weeks into this hobby and I’ve concluded I can’t buy anything from anyone. Lol

I did read everything but like the seller and the TPG, I just don't see it.
Looks like normal wear to me but bless your heart for trying to help out a nube.
