This seems to be the latest eBay trick.

People have been including NOT SILVER in the title of their coin listings.

So when you search for silver coins, you get their's in your results.

    Report for search/browse manipulation.

I have been searching for a specific model of shoe for a while, and people do the same crap tacking on several other model numbers. I report them all. I don't think eB@@ has actually removed any of them though...

Not new. They've been doing this since ebay started. In the early days, the trick was to write dozens of key words in white so they didn't show in the listing but would be caught by the search function.

what you need to do is send the add listing to bebay customer service and paraphrase your findings

There's nothing you can do, if the coin or whatever they're selling contains no silver, than they're only telling the truth by stating "NOT SILVER".

Its called advertising, and although it might seem like an annoyance to you and some of us there is nothing wrong with it.

Also, using "silver" as a search term on eBay is really vague term to use. You'll have better luck narrowing your search to the type of coin you're looking for, then adding "silver" to the limited search within a particular category.

Exclude the NOT from your search. If you search, for example, "USA silver" then try "USA silver -not". Of course it might also remove results you do want to see, but if it annoys too much in specific search results, this should do the job.

I agree. So what? Do folks no longer "read" listings?

If you search without the term "silver", you can find the listings that include silver but don't call it out. Those listings tend to attract less attention and go for lower prices.

Detecto, you make life so complicated for yourself. The world isn't going to change for you and you can't live and opt out of it either.

It is a relational database structure and special query terms can be used to pinpoint data mining results. Here is an explanation of how to phrase a request that should help for multiple terms.

Be sure to read page 2 for using the minus sign to eliminate terms

Include -"not silver" in your search The quotes tell it to ignore auctions with the phrase NOT SILVER in the title.
