Spanish cob

    I’m thinking about buying or trading this 8 real coin from a coworker. Any comments on it’s value and authenticity?

    Don't really know anything about these but it certainly looks real-95% certain it is. The value really depends on size. This one looks typical of the sizes I've seen. A value would probably be about $40. I've seen dealers selling these for $50-$300 a piece with some being even more if I'm not mistaken.

    It resembles an 8 reales from Potosi circa 1637. But if I had to guess I'd say it was reproduction since most of the detail ( at least what I can make out ) does not match. It's close though. The only way to know for sure would be to have an expert examine it in person.
