Friends...The moment I heard about the Close/Wide Pennys about 2 months ago.I really wanted ONE and within days I found my first. And then, its been weeks,I have not even seen a dirty old one.Are they becoming RARE? I saw one very similar SOLD on Teletrade for $388.00 (Realized) God Bless, Beck, Kissimmee FL
Can't tell for sure but it may be a WAM judging by the fact that FG is nearly touching the memorial, but its just a tad out of focus and too small to say for sure. Also they have always been rare IMO. I've only found 2 2000's and have probably searched thousands and thousands of pennies. Others on this forum have had better luck.
These are not rare, the 2000's are the most common type in the WAM/CAM series. If you saw one sell for $388 is was slabbed and a very high MS grade. You coin looks pretty good is probably worth $5-10.
That could be a WAM; I can't tell for sure, as the pics need to be better (and put on so we can see them clearly and all). If it is, keep it.
The example you seen sell for $388 was likely a 1999, which is much scarcer than the 2000 and 1998s, these sell around $10 as mentoned by Thad. It is hard to determine if yours is a genuine WAM from the picture provided...
Friends,I value your advise, and I am still a new guy on the block for Lincoln Pennys.Yes,the Teletrade auction Penny was Graded via PGCS atleast MS-64-RED and it sold for $388.00 Grading coins is tricky business, for the Pro's.My pic was taken via scanner (what I can afford) and the Angle of the pic does not show the Widness of AM,but trust me it is a wide, the FG as you can see is placed close to the Memorial building.Something New...please check out my Post of the 1958 possible Double Dye Obverse.Hey...,I just found a 1998 Wide AM,yesterday, its a bit Grease on it,shiney, all features are good. Now I really want a 1999..it would complete the 3 Years of Wides.Amen!
Why the Anger...its going for Grading...1973 D Pointing S/E Whats up!...havent you heard about new varaieties being discovered.
