Like James said, but for example a coin will come back genuine if there was a problem with the coin such as cleaned etc.
Here is an article that explains it and lists the codes. http://coins.about.com/od/coingrading/f/pcgs_genuine.htm
It is my understanding that PCGS has just changed the way they handle problem coins. They will no longer use "Genuine". Now, they will be giving a "Details" grade and specifying the reason. I saw photos of the slab with the new insert on another forum. Chris
I hadn't heard that. I thought they still said "Genuine" but also listed the problem...but gave no details grade.
Here is the thread. It's the 8th post on the first page. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=5366287#Post5366287 Chris
PCGS still designates Genuine without a details grade by default, but you can choose to have the details grade included. The slab pictured in the thread displays it well. I think they should have defaulted to including the details grade, but then they didn't ask me.
