Grading my coins

    Hi guys,
    Because i want to learn a bit of grading i am going to try to grade all the coins i have so far and put my findings in this topic.
    I hope i am doing the grading the right way, that is why i want to put them all here for you guys to comment on and tell me if i am correct or not.
    So here we go with the first coin, please let me know what you think of the grading i gave it, am i right or wrong

    Actually the 1986 cent would be 99.2% Zinc and 0.8% copper.

    are you sure?
    (not that i dont want to believe you but that is the data in the library of coinnection)
    Its a Lincoln Memorial, and there it says its 95% / 5%

    Yeah koen, I assume you got that information on my website. I need to update the Lincoln memorial information. Half way through 1982, they switched it to 99.2%Zince and .8% copper. So that's my fault.

    aaah, then i will adjust it in my first post.
    No problem.
    That library is a great piece of work, so i can understand its not always easy to keep it 100% updated

    I cant live anymore now i know that the internet lies.

    Just kidding ;)
    Its not realy a lie, i see it as a small update problem ;)

    But now to the point :p
    What do you think about the grading?
    Am i right or not?

    i have been told to forget the VF30 for this coin and go for beter :p
    Someone told me VF35 or even XF40
    What do you guys think?

    HINT: Koen, the coin still has a wealthe of luster.

    more than XF40?

    I'm saying that the amount of mint luster on the coin is an indicator that this is more than XF-40.

    Oh, sorry, luster is created when irregularities on the coin die are transferred to the surface of a coin. When light hits the abnormal surface of the coin, a sort of gleem or shine is produced, called luster, or lustre.

    Also, I must add, that luster decreases with wear or circulation to/on the coin. Most coins below AU-50 are quite lacking in the luster department, your coin is not!
