Hi, The dollar coins are all fakes. The hairlines on all the 1799 coins are nothing like they should be. The lettering is off as well. I agree that the trade dollars are fake casts as well. Bill
I don't think these are fake.....as for value. QUARTERS For the 1776-1976....$0.25/each For the ones dated 1964 and before....$1.75-$2.00/each DIMES $0.60-$0.75/each! Speedy
Just because they are not real, does not mean that your grandfather intentionally gave you fake coins. He thought he was giving you coins worth thousand, and that he wanted you to be happy! Just because they are not real, does not mean they cant be worth a lot to yourself.
Well, the dollars are probably fake, but I'm not very good at determining this. Send them to a grading company like NGC or PCGS, but just one coin. If one comes back fake, then they most likely all will. If not, and they come back real, you can sell them for a bit more, since they're certified. But, when you send them away to a grading service, DO NOT ever use SGS.
I did not say they are worthless to me. They worth more to keep... He never thought that he is giving me coins worth thousands in the first place. He gave them to me just because I like old coins and notes.
What I meant brother was that we just had a long discussion about SGS and how they greatly over grade.
