TC tops my list- he gave us that paradise mint link for the Army halfs and is generally a cool dude Also cladking- he has been a major influence on my collecting oh... and Doug- solid as a rock
I would say most. Now, there are some whom I have a lot of respect for, and have to second guess myself before I wish to disagree with them, (Doug, Doug Smith, Ardatirion, Eduard, etc), I find the interplay of even those who disagree with my views a good exercise.
Life would be generally boring if everyone thought the same and agreed on everything. I love being proved wrong when I am wrong, I learn something in the process. :thumb:
I couldn't possibly pick out one person as a favorite, but there are plenty here that I have the utmost respect for and enjoy reading their posts.
I hesitate to name one, but I do generally like Doug's posts. Now if we could only get him to use a grading standard that's less than 20 years old.... lol I also used to really enjoy Lehigh's posts. Too bad he doesn't post here any more. I also enjoy MarkH's, Eduard, and all the other large cent collector's posts as we share an interest in old copper. Lastly, I have a great deal of respect for Conder101 -- the dude knows his stuff.
I would say Doug. Even though he nearly brought tears to my eyes when he said my superb eBay gem was overgraded, cleaned AND counterfeit.
This forum is really quite full of some fine folks...over the years I have made many friends and have had the honor to meet a few of them. Selecting a single person would be like going to a chocolate factory and only having 1 piece! There are at minimum 20-25 people here I would consider my friend!
Actually, Doug is not the old grouch that some think he is. In person, he's really a nice guy and fun to be with. I enjoyed his company at the FUN Show. Chris
Wise guy My grading standards are only 6 years old Years ! Years I tell ya ! Work and work, slave away, and you go and ruin my reputation in a few sentences
Fuzzy recollection, I bet. I've seen Charmy's posts of the shows. I know how much nectar is consumed.
Thanks Danr. Glad that I was able to help you and others out with that link. I learn a lot on CT from many differerent people and so it would be very hard for me to list just one or even a few people. There is also a cadre of forumites that I just like reading their posts for enjoyment due to their sense of humor. TC
While I did bring Charmy a gift of two bottles of wine, I didn't have any (by choice). Actually, I only had one beer at the NGC Luncheon on Saturday, and that was the first alcohol I've consumed in more than a year. Chris
There's just too many characters here for me to choose. There are some who influenced stages of my collecting, like RickieB who's knowledge and passion for paper money turned my spark of interest in paper into a raging, 4 alarm wildfire. Then there are a few like MarkH and some others who fueled my quest to learn all I could about old copper. Then Mark Feldman got me to accept TPG's, though just a little, but I still buy 99.9% of my stuff raw. Then there's Doug, who I said I'd visit on several occasions but just never had a break every time I was in his neck of the woods...and he was in the very, very back of those woods at that time. Then theres Fatima, my favorite antagonist here, but one who I like to debate with and whos opinion I respect though I don't often, if ever say so. Guy
Just teasing, Chris. I've abstained for going on three years now, myself. I know Doug is a pussycat deep down. He likes to portray himself as a gruff (but noble) lion (which he is). I have a lot of respect for him and at least a dozen or more other members here as well.
The best, the coolest, the greatest, the most good looking (and the most moddest) forumite is me offcourse No, seriously, no favorites for me, i have just been heer for about a week, and it seems to me that everybody on this forum is an expet in his field and i havent met anyone (yet) who i dont like here
