Gentleman I work with has a huge collection of coins. The majority of which are in a safety deposit box waiting for his kids to inherit them (morgans, peace, gold and various bullion and coins). He inherited the collection from his grandfather.
It took some convincing but last year I bought a few hundred worth of morgans from him (junk morgans) which he was willing to part with.
I told him I was getting back into collecting and asked him again if he had something he'd be willing to sell again ...
he has about a hundred rolls of wheat/steel pennies which he recalls were not touched in over 30 years (the last time his grandfather added to it).
So I have a ton of wheat/steels at my disposal which haven't been searched in at least 30 years if at all. He's not a collector himself, hasn't been since he lost his grandfather, what's a fair price?
He's a good acquaintance of mine, I don't want to low ball him.

Really depends on their condition. I'd say the best one out of them is the S mint in Uncirculated condition. Without actually seeing them, if it were me, I'd offer anywhere between $5 and $10 per roll at most. Most of these unless they are in MS quality condition are only going to sell for a dollar each for the most part, maybe less. Grade is the key, if they can't show them to you, you don't want to end up screwing yourself either by overpaying for a bunch of steel pennies.

Also, these are so easily and readily available, so if you're trying to turn around and sell them, you might have a huge pile of them sitting around for awhile.

Some of the responses seem to be a bit on the high side. I can't see spending more than $2.50 per roll honestly. Even when Lincoln cents were hot back in '09, the average price for "unsearched" bags was around 5-6 cents per coin. Before that, they were typically selling for about 3 cents each for the previous twenty years or so.

Yeah, I said $5-$10 in hopes they're a bunch of uncirculated ones. I'd probably go lower as well if I couldn't see them in hand, perhaps break a roll or two open before buying to see their condition.

I think ill be generous and do $5 per roll and buy about 10.
If they're good ill buy more at price. If not ill ask if he can lower..
I have a feeling they're good quality. If his grandfather collected them chances are decent. He has more than a handful of CCs in his safety box.
