    Sure, that's easy.

Number of halves minted for circulation since 2002: 0.

2001 was the last year that new halves were released into general circulation. You'll find newer ones on rare occasions, as collector rolls and bags are stolen, or inherited, or spent out of boredom and indifference.

    Finally finished two boxes of pennies. Came across 75 wheaties...1917, 1929, 1934, 1936, 1940, 1941(x7), 1942, 1944(x11), 1944D(x2), 1945(x5), 1946(x7), 1946D, 1946S,
    1947, 1948(x3), 1949(x3), 1950, 1951(x2), 1951D(x2), 1952(x2), 1952D(x2), 1953(x2), 1953D, 1955(x2), 1956(x2), 1956D(x5), 1957D(x3), 1958(x2), 1958D(x2).

Got $100 worth of nickel rolls. Not a box but a nice mix of 12 CWRs, some plastic wrapped rolls, and brown BWRs. I found 5 war nickels in the CWRs! Plus I found tons of 30s-50s but sadly no buffalos.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with today's score!

Hey guys, been reading the forum and following along. I'm wondering if I should buy a box of quarters and halves to look through.

I live here in Houston and have accounts at Wells Fargo and a credit union.

    Welcome to the forum!

I would love some silver quarters. I've never searched for them myself as I have heard they are a lot more rare to find then the dimes and half dollars. That could just be the others trying to throw me off the scent though! :p

    Good Luck

Thanks for the welcome! Yeah, I think halves might be the way to go and I welcome all opinions. I would like to buy either a box of dimes, quarters, or halves.

    Any opinions on what's best?

Went through a $25 box of pennies and got three common date bad condition wheat cents, skunked again...

P.S. I have an account at TD do they have CWR's if not what banks do? Do i have to ask for them specificly?

Halves are a great way to start if you got $500.00. Otherwise, Dimes aren't too bad either.

If you dont want to search an entire box of quarters i like to go to car washes that use coins instead of tokens. Put in the bills and out comes the quarters. They basically all come from the bank or from someones piggy bank.

Never thought of that, sounds like a plan when I'm not in a hurry.

What about the machines that give you quarters like in arcades?

I should locate all the old folks in the neighborhood and ask them if they have coins in jars they've saved up over the years.

Ugh, I give up trying to find it. Someone has posted a while back about knowing a buyer that liked pocket worn coins. Does anyone know who that was?

Decided to mix it up and do some pennies for the first time.

    $20

    4 wheaties
    1 bahamas 1 cent piece
    1 singapore 1 cent piece
probably about 4 rolls worth of pre '82 copper. i don't have a scale so I'm just going to turn the '82's back in.

had more fun then I expected to. I still prefer silver hunting though. haven't done any quarters or nickel yet. may try those as well.

I remember the discussion. I like the worn Eisenhower and others liked Kennedy's but can't remember who.

Cazkaboom One for all, all for me.

With 82 cents, I just thrown them back in. But it is quite simple to tell them apart with a drop test, drop a known copper cent, drop a zincoln, then drop the questionable copper 82 cent. If it matches the copper (High ring) it is copper. If it is a dull thud, it is a zincoln. Nevertheless, I don't keep them anyways, one of my local dealers told me to just throw them back, so I am.

That would be me. You've gotta get 'em slabbed. I'd offer to buy it off you raw if I like the coin, but I won't be giving you slabbed prices, obviously...

I don't have any ike's or kennedy's. I was just curious, as I recently picked up a cheap lot of odd coins off ebay and it has a worn barber quarter. I don't have the coins yet but the ebay pick is below. it has some a couple grooves on the back and no date.
