Ive been searching through my unsorted 1970(S) pennys trying to find some small date varietys. These are the ones i think are small dates? Just practicing....
i think they are the small dates, but not sure (never seen one with big date and small date together to make the difrence) So verry good question, will be happy to see the answers of the pro's
Nothing special there. The inside tail of the "9" should point to half way up the "7". That's the easiest way to tell.
According to The Red Book, the easiest way I can see to tell if they're large or small dates on the '70s is if the top of the 7 is lower than the top of the 0, then it's a large date. If the top of the 7 and 0 are parallel, then it's a small date. I may be wrong, but that's what i gather from the "low 7" and "high 7" in the descriptions in the book.
so its not realy easy to see the difrence without small magnification i gues if i go from the redbookpicture the coins placed by matthew are all large dates, am i correct?
i nitice the same think on the picture on that site as the picture of redbook. The 0 on the large date is bigger than the 0 on the small date, i think that way it is easyer to see the difrence than with the shape of the 9
