I wanted to share larger size images of these 3 Vignettes to the guy's here who collect them. I hope you enjoy them..I find them to be simply beautiful pieces of Art Work/Engravings.
Thanks for posting . These are wonderful. I have but one remaining vignette with my holdings. A piece from the C. Krause Wisconsin Collection, Farmers & Millers Bank, Milwaukee, Wi. I previously offered the piece for sale here, but there was no interest at all. A terrific piece of Numismatic History for sure.
Well two of your questions are not easy to answer...as far as price I paid..well I was the sole bidder on this lot during the Heritage Live Event. It was internet only bidding and I got them for what I thought was a steal! These are proof impressions made from the actual plates. I am not sure how many exist or where you might be able to find one. I have one proof that came directly from A BEP Directors Collection that was passed down to his son, then to Dr. Glenn Jackson and then to Mr. Hessler and now I own it. It is a very popular vignette with the Blue BEP stamp on the reverse and the perimeter drying rack holes still evident from the time it was placed on the drying rack to dry.
These are real beauties, Rick -- thanks for sharing! There are several other vignettes titled "The Depot" but I've not seen this one before. These look like older vignettes -- I would guess most pre-date the formation of American Bank Note Co.
Rick, here's a favorite from my vignette proof collection -- Indians stalking deer, engraved between 1854-58 by Jocelyn, Draper, Welsh & Co., an ABNCo predecessor. This one is on tissue. I have a number of others I'm planning to scan and post in the near future. Thanks for the inspiration.
