Hello everyone. I am new to the site and new to collecting. I was handed down my uncle's old coin collection and have become very interested in this hobby. Most of his coins are not in very good condition but some are pretty old. I was looking over this 1920 S and was wondering if this was a die break or just damage. Under a magnifier you can see the aging of the coin in the cracks, so I am assuming it happened a long time ago or when it was made.
A die break would be a raised line across the surface of the coin rather than a depression. This looks more like post mint damage, from a tool perhaps.
