    Nice!

Much nicer grade than the two I picked up:

    Thanks.
My MS Newfie type set keeps growing but I'm really gonna have to save my nickels and dimes to be able to afford MS Vicky coins.

A Newfoundland type set sounds really cool (and expensive in MS). Thanks for posting the quarter. Perhaps you could post some other Newfoundland coins from your type set here.

Great looking quarter up there!! I'd love to own one of those $2 gold coins, those are very cool and highly collectible. I wonder how many Newfoundland specific coin collectors there are right here on this forum? Newfoundland coins have a huge following which brings up the prices quite a bit, I still keep my eyes peeled b/c some people who have piles of world coins don't know anything about them and sometimes you can snag a good deal. Maybe I'm just day dreaming or wishful thinking. :D

I put away some $$$ every month in a fund I set up to buy Newfie Victorian silver.
The best I can afford is an MS60 or so, unless somebody suddenly goes insane and starts a BIN auction for cheap!
First thing I have my eye on is the half dollar - a nice MS example is a very impressive coin.
I've posted pictures of some of my Newfie coins earlier and many of the ones I have I haven't imaged yet.

I wish you the best of luck on the Vickies! I have a few better Canadian ones, but none of the NFLD pieces. Been trying to get one as well, I just really don't want to pay full price for one. =)

I never would have guessed. Anyways, Newfoundland has a special place in my heart. I lived at Argentia for about a year and a half in the 70's, and had a great time. They say that Newfoundland is God's Country, and it is true. Beautiful land, for sure.

Newfoundland is indeed a lovely place. Wouldn't want to live there in the winter - say September to June ;) But summer there is glorious and I found the residents charming people for the most part.
I've been to Canada many times, mostly in Ontario, and it doesn't seem like a foreign country since the culture is hard to distinguish from ours here in the USA (Montreal excepted).
Newfoundland is somehow different and you definitely don't think you're in the US of A!

This is the building I lived in (9th floor, far side) (from static view before starting film, it's the front to the right, and during the film, at between about 14-16 seconds in you can see the smoke blowing out about the 9th floor, right about where my room was)

i live in newfoundland ,i have to say. ive been many places over the years, but always find my self back on the rock. i dearly love newfoundland coins and every so ofton i stumble upon a person with a hoard of old newfoundland coins and currency. the currency being more scarce of coarse.i just posted about a 1872 newfoundland twenty cent piece with a counter stamp. theres a pic of three coins i recently bought off a person. if anyone reading this post would like to have a look. well dont hesitate to do so. im interested in seeing what the grade of these coins would be. the pics are not very detailed as i took them with a phone. so there is a little more detail to the naked eye. if anyone is looking for a particular newfoundland coin. let me know as i may have several of alot of the years desired. thnaks. and may your newfoundland collection grow.
