i am new to the site this is kinda spur of the moment so sorry for no picture but i have a 1977 s penny in proof condition and i want to know if any one knows if there is any error know about this i know it is a filled s because of the 1979 pictures of the filled s it is clearly the same as the 1979 other than the date. also around the edge i guess the rim of the coin from about the very center of the bottom 6 o clock position up to the right above the date the edge seems to have an extra ring around it but does not go all the way around as i said just like instead of the rim just dipping down one time to meet the face of the coin the is an extra ridge in the center of that rim. once again sorry for the pictures but any help would be very nice
i hope these pics are clear enough please le me know what you think. if you need a better pic please tell me and i will do what i can to get one. thank you for all the welcome messages i am new to collecting i have a large collection and i could use all the help i can get so thank you very much
any ideas yet?? i just posted these pics are they good enough pics, can you see it clear enough? to me it really looks like the filled s on the 1979 s coin
I think it just that it is in really good condition. But I can't help you to much because I'm not that good at telling the difference from regular coins and error coins unless it is an obvious error.
IMO, it is not. Go to this web site: http://www.varietyvista.com/San Francisco Mintmark Styles.htm James presents photographs of the mintmarks used on Lincoln cents. (Yours is a proof in case you didn;t know) Draw your own conclusions from the web page provided.
