i am trying to get my spread sheet up to date. i am wondering value and grade of these please. thanks for your help
1889: F details 1896: VF details Both coins appear to have been cleaned. Since both are common dates, I would say they are worth melt. Also, you need to give the members of the forum a little time to see your thread and make a response. Two hours is not enough time...sometimes we patience is required.
you dont have to trust me on this one because i am new at this but here is my gues for the 1889 Becouse of the wear of the wings from the eagle my gues it is VF30 Value i cant tell you Why VF and not MS or AU: Becouse of the wear of the wings from the eagle, they are to worn off i think. But like i said, dont trust me on this one as i am new to it, wait until somebody who knows what they are talking about replies. I wonder if i am far of the truth about it
I think you are doing pretty good for being so new at this. Keep it up. Also, when it comes to grading (for everyone)...I recommend the ANA grading guide. It's not the only grading standard out there, but I think it's a great place to being learning how to grade. This is the book: http://www.amazon.com/Grading-Stand...9931/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1326854759&sr=8-2
i use a website for trying to grade coins. PCGS Photograde. But i will try to get that book, maybe the data on the site is not as accurate as in the book (and i still have to learn much )
Different groups use different grading standards and it's important to be able to understand that. The ANA standards are simply different than the PCGS standards. IMHO, ANA has a little stricter standards.
I don't know if it's the most used...but it is one of the most used. I would say ANA and PCGS are probably the most popular because they both have published very popular books about grading.
Do you happen to know the title of the grading book from PCGS? Cant seem to find it on their site (or do they not have such a book?)
It's not like anyone here works for a living, thats crazy talk. Camaro is right, a good rule of thumb is to wait 24 hours before asking again.
A quick reference guide for PCGS grades http://www.pcgs.com/grades.html Also very helpful for checking grades with PCGS http://www.pcgs.com/Photograde/ And of course a price guide is always handy http://www.pcgs.com/prices/ Plus, these are all free to use.
Is the color of the picture accurate? It looks a little faded. But if I had to guess I would have to agree with Camaro.
