Is this small date 1970 s ?

    What Do You think in this photograph... Small Date 1970 S Lincoln Cent..

    going by the red book, it looks like a large date.

    Wow, if that is a legitimate NGC slab, I just lost all faith in them!

    Myself can not believe it either. Is this real hard to distinguished the small date and large date ( 1970 s Lincoln cent ) for them?

    Why? They offer a cash guarantee on their grades/attributions and mistakes do happen with all the TPGs.

    actually, a slab with a mistake like that will sell for more because it happens so rarely

    but it does happen...

    If you take the cert number from the slab on the auction site, and plug it into the coin search at NGC's website, it sure looks to be the same coin. And again, it does indeed seem to be a Large Date variety. The 0 is a little too oval, and the 7 a little too low. It's hard to tell, but the 9 looks to be pointing to about 5 o'clock and not the correct 3 o'clock.
