Doug, I think he is confusing desciminating with snobby.

JJK78, I can assure you, as someone who knows Doug personally, he is not snobbish; however he is quite discriminating when evaluating a coin and articulate when explaining his preferences.

I took a second look at it after Doug's comment, and yes, I can see what he means. That die erosion is in the focal point of the coin and is quite like looking at a pothole on a street. Not the best. But the coin itself is beautiful with the colors, and I like it's "conditon" (grade). So. Question is just whether a buyer can ignore the pothole to appreciate the coin.

Not a huge fan of the CBH10C or the Proof Seated Half.

Now, if they were both in VF/XF range... ;)

Most of those coins are well out of my pocket range, but I still believe that seated half is a fine coin.

I have an idea of your taste in series Brian. I believe my personal attachment to this series is for nostalgic purposes. An 1873 AG Seated half was the first coin I ever bought. Take a look at an MS seated half reverse, and I believe you will see a fine strike.

That area in front of Ms. Liberty's face doesn't bother me in the least.

I have bought coins from David for years, he has a great eye, and last August, he was the successful bidder on my more eye appealing coins at Heritage's ANA auction. His table was across the aisle from mine, and it was nice seeing my Ladies again in his case.

He's a great guy and loves to talk coins. He is usually with his wife, who is one of the sweetest women you will ever meet.
