One time I decided to coin roll hunt some pennies. They ended up giving me $20 in 2011 pennies straight from the fed.
You need to deal with another bank, my friend. The tellers at both my banks are friendly and helpful. My favorite teller even puts stuff aside for me (Ike dollars, foreign coins - which she gives me for free - and $2 bills among other things)
Why does everyone want the new rolls of coins? I have a whole box of unopened 2019 shield pennies and people are selling them for double on eBay. I still have them, but before I sell them I just want to know why people are buying them?
It would be best if you spoke with your favorite bank teller about this. Some banks to not get new rolls of anything. It's all recycled coin. Some banks can order boxes of new coins but most can or will not.
It's the "buried treasure" syndrome. You have no way of knowing what might be in there, and peoples imaginations start working overtime. Chances of anything of significance being in any one particular box are pretty much zero, but they let their imagination of what could be run away with them and they pay silly money for them. Other people who manage to get the boxes from the bank are happy to separate fools from their money.
I would buy rolls of Customer Rolled coins before I would buy new rolls ( with the exception of quarters) Customer rolled coins in my experience yield more treasures, Just a couple weeks ago I got 4 rolls of customer rolled nickels from my bank. 3 of the rolls were all mid 70's uncirculated condition and album toned in rainbow colors. Last week went back to the teller and we found 1 more roll like that. Last week (same teller) I bought some quarters....1 roll was just like the nickels, all mid 70's ...unc. and toned. I noticed that the roll was just a shade lighter in color then the others. I went back and asked the teller to look to see if she had another roll just a shade lighter. She did, and I bought it....A whole roll of Bicentennial quarters, again Unc, and toned! I think somebody emptied an album, rolled them up and turned them in.
BTW.....The first and only box of pennies I bought from the bank (about 2 months ago) were almost 95% new shield pennies. there was an average of 5 to 8 older pennies mixed in each roll but the rest were all 2019 shields!
