I just received my 2006 US Proof Silver Coin Set. I waited less than a week! I was shocked that all the coins are perfect, not a blemish on either side. Of course, there is a price to pay. On the upper right-hand side of each plastic container are nice deep scratches. The scratches are not by the coins itself so I will not return the set. I know if I return, I'd get spots on the gold dollar or scratches on the half. I doubt if scratches on the container would ever effect the set's value.
People always say that one should order multiple sets so that the blemishes like spots or weak or off centered strikes can be sent back. The only problem is that most of these sets are sent in the order of production. I went to a coin dealer who bought like 6 sets of the 2006 silver proof quarter sets and Colorado had a weak strike on all 6 sets.
Coins Look Good This year my complaint is with the plastic case only. I am very pleased with the coins. The quarter with Chimney Rock is deeply frosted. The problem is the scratches on the plastic case on both the quarter container as well as the regular coin container. I feel silly returning it because of the case since the coins are good! In past years, the next set sent me was even worse than the returned set. The inspection process should be done manually but it is accomplished by a computer, I believe.
