Just read the current Coin World online and heard about the coin siezure and arrest at the show for violation of import restriction laws. That the Department of Homeland (In)Security was involved could hardly come as a surprise, but the local New York law enforcement community? I don't think those idiots have any idea what they have just done, the damage to the show is pretty much irreversible, with New York City merchants sure to lose many millions in revenue as a result. You can be sure much --if not all-- of the ancients auction activity will now be headed to Hong Kong or some other less reactionary venue where the dealers won't have to worry about getting shaken down. Unbelievable. Like something right out of Russia, the same kind of crap the government pulls over there. And who do you suppose will eventually take claim to these coins? I doubt they will end-up in a museum in Greece, and even if they did the ongoing civil unrest there gives little assurance the new "conservators" will be able to secure possesion of the coins for long. My expectation? Both coins will be back in private hands in less than a generation, if not immediately, war booty pilfered from the numismatic community by our own government.
