http://www.ebay.com/itm/Half-Dollar...87?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item27c256b0bb Definitely not the bust of 1807. That's closer to the facial structure of 1809. acing: Please report the auction! I reported it to EBay and sent this to the seller: Dear seller, as a dealer of 30 years, I am sorry to tell you that this is unquestionably counterfeit. It is not even the correct style for a genuine 1807 Caped Bust Half. This listing is being discussed on a large coin chat forum and being reported to Ebay. It will harm your reputation severely and I would recommend ending the listing. Best of luck to you.
Forget about the die pairs being wrong. That is the crappiest looking counterfeit I have ever seen. It's grainy and the devices are poorly detailed (especially the arrows on the reverse and the stars on the obverse). I could mold a better fake out of silly putty.
Good find. The crazy part is their is a sub market that will go gaga over this. Brian... that is why you make the big bucks.
That didn't take long: "This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available."
If you're experienced enough to know what you're purchasing is authentic, then buying coins raw can actually be very financially beneficial. "Big bucks"? Couldn't say that. -Brian
