    XYZ Grading Company

At the sake of repeating myself - months later - if YOU dont trust YOUR grading abilities - buy ONLY PCGS, NGC or ANACS graded coins. As a dealer I know that the marketplace respects the grading of those companies. Having been a dealer since 1979, I can tell you emphatically, there is NO Santa Claus in the coin business. I see thousands of coins on eBay and at coin shows that are 1-5 points lower than the grade stated on the certified label. With PCGS, NGC and ANACS, you get a standard. Of course they make some mistakes; they are human beings grading coins, but the percentage is small. There are numerous companies out there started by people to deceive the unknowledgable. Be careful. If I may I would like to put in a plug - take an ANA grading course - whether in person or through the US mail. Its WELL WORTH the money! Thanks! Mike G

Well the pictures are a bit too small to be able to grade it correctly. Is there any way you can enlarge them ?

People can sue for saying just about anything... it's just a question of whether or not they will win, or whehter it will get laughed out of court. Merely stating an opinion is not slander or libel. Basically, it has to be proven that you say something that you know not to be true for the sake of hurting someone's reputation. In any accusation of libel or slander, truth is a defense... if you can prove what you're saying
is true, it can't ever be libel or slander. Also merely stating an opinion, as long as it is clear that it is an opinion and that you're not misrepresenting opinion as fact, is not libel or slander, whether it's true or not. Many people like to use threats of lawsuits for slander or libel to intimidate those that are either ignorant of the law or who lack the resources to hire lawyers to defend themselves. I've known a lot of websites that basically call their bluff when they realize that the threats are empty because no court would waste their time hearing a libel case when it is clearly just a statement of opinion, protected by the 1st amendment.

The pics are bigger but still not anywhere near large enough to grade the coins via a scan. Can you scan the coin at 300dpi? Thats what we normally use for eBay.

The PCGS Coin Universe Price Guide lists that coin at $2350.00 in a PCGS holder in MS67 FB, but that is a VERY STRONG price and it has to be in a PCGS holder. In MY humble opinion, its one of those coins that guides for more than it normally sells for. I have sold hi grade Jefferson nickels that were on the PCGS Coin Universe price at $1500 for less than $100.00 on eBay.

    Price guides arent always reliable.

But the scan of your dime is still way too small to accurately grade.

Can you reference the court documents for one individual (not a direct competitor or an actor for a competitor) who has lost in such a case?

Well for all of you old farts, If your using Windows go to the start button then hit all programs and then click on accesories and then click accessibility and click magnifier. Its pretty easy to use and it works good for you older folk. hahahaha
They also have a function where it will read it to you.
    Just an FYI

Doesn't really matter if it is a weak strike or wear - no way is the reverse worthy of an MS grade IMHO.

Along with the bands not being full , I have circled a few of the areas that would detract from the grade Gallery gave it.

Looks like an AU to me. So no, it is not what the grading company says it is.

Would you settle for 40 individuals ? And several companies ? Click Here

"On Monday March 18, 2004 a complaint was filed by ASA-Accugrade, Inc., a Florida Corp., and Diane & Alan Hager in the 18th Circuit Court of Seminole County, Florida for Conspiracy, Tortious Interference and Defamation. This lawsuit was filed against 46 individuals nationwide and will shortly be amended to 53. Case No. 04-CA-692-16-W. "

Bottom line is it doesn't matter if anybody lost - I personally know several of the individuals and it cost them all a lot of money in legal fees. I know this because I helped a couple of them who didn't have the money pay for it - so did many others. Even though the suit was dismissed against most of the original defendants - it is still on-going for the rest. And still costing them money.

Nobody wins in these cases - everybody loses finacially.

I listen to people say to only buy from certain companies and I completely disagree (though this depends on why you are buying). I think I have a three coins in NTC slabs and the grading has been spot on. These are pretty high-end coins (Proof Barber Half, couple of 1900's Liberty $20 Gold, etc.) I've asked here what these were worth and I paid $100-$300 less than the street prices posted here (not price guide figures, actual, realistic pricing).

How? I bought the coin, not the holder.

If you are a buyer, don't limit yourself to "the top three." If you look for the same coin, same year, same grade you will see a variety of different looking coins in slabs from a single company and from various companies. You can find the same coin cheaper in a non-top three slab.

That isn't to say you should blindly buy a NTC slabbed coin and take the grade to heart. I don't do that with ANY grading company. While the top three may be off by a point or two, the non-top three might be off my more. In other words, there are probably more overgraded (at least of certain coins). But, there are plenty properly graded as well. If you buy the coin (not the plastic) you'll be fine. If you're the type that buys coins signt unseen (no pictures even), then well.... do what works for you.

If you are looking to sell, then you want to get the coin graded from a company that will bring you the highest resale (and NTC won't do that for you generally). The same coins I bought above would have cost me $100's more if they were in a slab from a top-three. As a seller, that's important to know.
