Any of you ever sort and store your circulated coins???

Or do you just cash'em in when your done sorting them????

I was thinking about trying to find away to sort/store our coins...

I've thought about this a few times, just never acted on it...

My thinking was maybe some use some of those boxes for the garage that have like 6 clear drawers, each with like 10-20 small compartments for screws or crimp connecters... Each compartment gets different coins sorted by year/mint...

Get a box or boxes for Cents, Nickels, Dimes, Quarters, etc...

Then if we or someone we know needs one, we can go right to it with out having to search to much...

It may cost more and be way more effort than its worth...

    I dunno, Just some thoughts....

Currently I have Lincoln cents, Jefferson nickles, Roosevelt dimes, and Kennefy half dollars sorted by series in Whitman folders. If I find any I don't have or find one in better condition than what I have, it goes in the folder, else it goes into a can that I cash in when it gets full. Not collecting quarters by series, it's too expensive lol... my mother is saving me and my 3 brothers sets of the statehood quarters so I'm not bothering atm. Of course any silver quarters or dimes get pulled, lol, and I do save any wheat cents I find.

A friend collects wheats and memorials and he took an old desk and made a wooden plate for the drawers, drilled holes the size of cent tubes in it and has them arranged in order from 1909 to present with all dates and mint marks on tags on the top of the tube. If anyone wants a specific coin he can find it in a few seconds.

Thought I might try that for some of mine also when I get around to it.

I use egg crates - number the holes 0-9 for ex. 1930-1939. The extra holes are for misc.ex.1920 or 1950.

I have what I affectionately refer to as my "bucket-o-junk" (an old 5 qt. ice cream pail) which is where I put anything that I have accumulated that doesn't fit into a folder or need to be put in a 2x2. My wife agrees with my bucket-o-junk title, but it serves it's purpose ;)
