someone told me this coin was worth 2-4 thousand. Can anyone tell me why. I am just a new collector who became interested in coins little less than a year ago.
Wow. I do not have an answer. I did purchase an old Canadian token recently - dated 1849 I think. Not sure on date at the moment. Anyways, it was old token - dressed up after the Calif Fractional territorial tokens Long story short, I can see why you like your old cent. I will be sure to follow this thread. Not sure why someone would tell you that. There were two varieties for this year. A "low 9" and a "high 9". The high 9 is more valuable. However it would have to be in MS-67 condition to be worth 2-4k. Anyway, here are the values between good and Almost uncirculated. Your's is leaning more toward good.
