I sent my three legged buffalo off nearly a month ago to get graded in FL. I called the coin dealer I entrusted to send it off and was told they were backed up at the moment so it could go past a month. is this standard practice?

I'd say it IS standard practice.I sent a coin to ANACS and paid for 5 day service except they don't count weekends, holidays, coin shows they HAD to attend and probably phases of the moon.I got it back in 21 days but that being said,I was happy with the grade result and would do it again.I'm guessing you sent yours to NGC in Sarasota? If so,the maximum turnaround time is supposed to be 12 days but check your lunar charts and hold on.

Do you know what submission tier the dealer used? If it was Economy, the estimated turnaround time is 21 business days. If it was Earlybird, the estimated turnaround is 16 business days.

I have sent coins to ANACS and NGC.....ANACS always came back in the time that they said....5days and about 3 months.....NGC only took one month.

My last 12 day submission took exactly 1 month -via NGC- From the day I sent them to the day I got them back.
