Moneda frontsmaller.jpg Moneda backsmaller.jpg Hi I hope someone can help me the coin is in bad condition and it seems someone tried to fix it. It is hard to see much on it but there is a cross two lions and what I guess are two casttles an Eon the riht and a 7 on the bottom.
On the other side I can see a number 2 something like a sword and the word plus. I am going to try to upload pictures. I am guessing it is peruvian maybe from the 1600? It might not even be real.

    Hope someone can help. Thanks!

No idea whether it's real, but if so it certainly could be Peruvian; I think I see the mintmark. These were very crudely made coins, but those discolored spots strike me as very odd even for one of these.

    How large is the coin?

If it is real, looks like someone tried to polish it on a grinding wheel or something. Short of those marks, it appears to be a genuine cob.

Where did you get it? I ask since there are some of these appearing on the fake market nowadays.

Hi swhuck the coin is about 2cm. The discolorations are because we found it at the bottom of an old drawer it had gotten stuck into some sort of clay they used to fix the drawer.

Medoraman it was my grandfathers he passed away some years ago but we are just going through his stuff now. The scratches are because my dad tried to take off that clay that the coin was stuck to. It is a very hard clay those that you are supposed to mix two components so he scratched it while taking that off.

Do you have any idea what coin that is? sorry by the way for any spelling mistakes as the coin I am peruvian too.

The 'E' in the lower left quadrant of the top picture is the assayer's initial. It was only used for this type of coin in Potosi, Bolivia.
