Hey there cointalk! I'm curious how can I tell the difference between a 40% Ike silver dollar and a regular variety? Thanks for any answers!

    dsmith23 Gotta get 'em all

    Copper-nickel issues:

    • Weight: 22.68 grams
    Silver-copper issues (silver clad):

    • Weight: 24.59 grams

The edges look different, and they look very different when you view them through a sheet of tissue. If you don't have examples of each to compare, or even if you do, a weight test is best; clads weigh 22.68 grams, silver weigh 24.59 grams.

also the 40% silver will always have an "s" mint mark, but not all "s" mint marks are 40% silver
