I was scanning on T.V. and ran across an ASE that was for sale. 3 Flex? payments of 45 bucks. It was Slabbed MS70 by ANACS. 135 for an ASE. Should we jump on this opportunity? The marketer with a 3 piece suit and white gloves almost had me convinced.

I'm glad you were "almost convinced". There are far better places to buy ASE's and other coins.

But Penny, it came with a blue felt jewelry box.

Anyone know how much it cost to air a nationwide TV show?

Edit to add it is probably a lot more than the Ebay fees to run a world wide web listing.

$89 isn't a bad price most places I've looked is $95 to $109 depending on label.

Not to mention it's a rare, limited edition, only made one year . Sold out at the mint and that after 2012 they can't make anymore with 2012 on it...lol
Just like every Morgan Dollar was part of a Jesse James train heist in the old west. :-D

The ethics of brilliant people. I suppose Alec Baldwin actually goes home and plays words with friends. sheesh.

All the hype over a 1 ounce bulliion because the label says 70 on it.

69 is just as good looking, and more reasonably priced.

Jason, would you be interested in buying some waterfront property I have in the Sahara?

C'mon Jason, now you know better! Don't pay retail for a coin with the intent of re-selling it in the shop.

I see no reason not to buy from HSN if you find the deal decent. I have watched and found lots of outrageous sales pitch, but generally acurate and honest product descriptions. BUT, I personally would not buy a graded ASE, as I see them as bullion.I have also witnessed someone trying to cash in these specials at a coin shop. The dealer didn't even make him an offer, because he knew about what the guy had invested in them.

That's the solid OOOOOOOOAAAAAK Presentation Box! I love the way he says that.

By the way what happened to the chubby sweater vest wearing guy? The two of them were like Yogi and Boo Boo.

I never buy from any TV show or recommend it to anyone either. If you see coins on TV, change the channel or pull the plug...

wow, I just hit my 1000 post.
I've been here too long... lmao

While I agree with the not buying part of your post, I still like to watch the various cable coin shows, if only to feel superior to the poor schnooks who buy from those gonifs.

Sadly I see this happen all the time at my friend's coin shop. Some person brings in a box of ASE's or Morgans they paid too much for on a tv show and then expect to get that or more when they sell. They even recite the same sales pitch the tv salesman used. It's hard not to laugh. I'm almost sure I could sell dirt for $80 a shovel full on tv and there would be people who bought it faster than I could shovel it if I shoveled out a phoney story to go with it.
