What kind of coins? What opinions are you looking for? Grades? Identification? Authentication? Just post pics of them under the appropriate threads and you'll get all the help you need.
I think Ikandiggit has the best idea for a couple of reasons. While it would be easy to do in person, when mailing, insurance, time and responsibility to prevent misunderstandings and loss for no payment is unreasonable, and dangerous for both parties. If you don't belong to a local coin club, join one. They are filled with people you see often ( or could see) and can see the coin in hand. There are usually some who have the experience to evaluate them for you, and none at my club charges anything ( except you may have to listen to their "stories" ). Jim
Machine doubling or true doubling. Mostly 1c, 5c, 25c, 50c, some foreign coins. I do post pics when I can, just sometimes I can not get a clear photo. thanks
Yes, I understand.... people rip off people. But I don't and I don't think you do. Looking for honest people of course. It would be a nice world if such disclaimers were unneeded. Don't take my kindness (naivety) for weakness and all those things, I understand the risk on my behalf but you know what? I aint scared As for the coin club, I live in the boonies and the closest (and only) numismatist is not interested in cherry pickers. Mostly ancient gold, for him. His name is Jim, too. By the way, is your blue stone/gem in your profile photo...is it glowing by itself? And what is it?
The stone is a 23 carat Iolite crystal. It has a light shining through it. Sometimes called "Water sapphire. It appears in 3 different colors according to the direction of view, blue, yellow, and light grey. Jim
I agree with the others: Posting on here is a great way to get it examined, for free! The most important thing is to take quality pictures so good reviews can be given. Although it;s never the same as actually having the coin in-hand, it certainly will give you a good idea about the particular coin.
Practice taking photos. Decent enough quality can be achieved with inexpensive, basic equipment. Members here can guide you along if you have any problems. Posting pics on the forum has the advantage to have some of the top experts in the coin collecting world to visually examine what you have and to share that information with other members.
Coins with these characteristics should easily be examined on Cointalk with a good picture. As for authentification, you may have to supply some additional information such as weight.
Easiest thing to do like others have mentioned is to post pictures. Taking pictures of coins is not the easiest but once you get the hang of it it will make things easier. And unless you go to a coin shop that knows you, more than likely they will charge you to appraise the coins.
