It does have some value, but I am no professional (Zero experience) in atributing large cents, but grading... I'd put it at an AG grade, but there are so many varieties that I don't even wanna try to put a value on that coin. Mind my asking what you paid?
I paid five dollars for it. I know I will easily make my money back due to me being a very patient collector. I just have no idea on what type of large cent it is and what the value is. I thought I'd bring it on here for some help but nothing so far.
Would one of the bills you'd happen to be paying with have continuous serial numbers? lol Do you know anything about these coins yakpoo?
I have absolutely no knowledge about large cents, so please take my following information as a grain of salt I like to use the PCGS price guide as estimates, and it states that a G-4 is worth $65. Since AG is about a 2 or 3 I would (just to be conservative) estimate the coin at around $30-40. Again, please don't take my info as fact! I'm sure a true collector will come along and give you much more active info. But there's my 2 cents.
Sorry about the wait, It looks to be a 1803 Small date Large Fraction. Condition, FR02 value probably >$10
You are correct about the small date, large fraction attribution, but that only take us part of the way, small date/ large fractions are listed under 6 different Sheldon varieties- ranging from VERY common, to extremely scarce. I disagree with your grade and value evalutaion. This looks to be at least AG-3 with a shot a G-4, in my book. Which puts it's value at anywhere from $30, to $50. JMHO
It'd be best to contact somebody like Marshall to get it properly attributed and graded. I realize I am wrong on the FR02, and would bump it up to AG03, just my mind was in the wrong setting. But the $30-50 range seems a bit high. Due to G being $32, ag being about 70%, (My rule of thumb) of value. But If you really want to know the proper attribution, I'd definitely contact Marshall
