Could this be 1942/1 Merc ?

    My eyes are not what they use to be. Can anyone tell from this photo if this is a overstamped date ?

    The photos aren't big enough for me to quite tell, but I don't see any doubling on the '4'. IMO it is not.

    A bigger picture would help.

    Maybe my eyes are bad but it looks like maybe even you have a 1943, where the 3 was mangled by post mint damage.

    That's what I was thinking too, looks a lot like a 43. And if this is supposed to be a Philadelphia coin then it definitely isn't a 42/1 because there is no way you could miss a completely formed 1 closing off the left side of the 2.

    It looks lika a 43 to me. This is the look of a 42/1.
