Well, I have enjoyed learning enough that I thought I'd venture out to buy some supplies online, as opposed to whatever I could find at the local store. I LOVE supporting the local guys, so don't get me wrong. Anyhow, I was please to start using Sa-flips, alongside my current Saf-t-flips. I think the former may have a clearer view. We'll see how they hold up.

On to the question. I've been fairly happy with the plastic pages from the store, for 75 cents each, but I surfed and found plenty of recommendations to use 35mm pages, which I got from PrintFile. I found the 2x2-20B version, which has 20 slots for 2x2s (like the ones I bought locally) and says it is 8mm polypro. I like the white edges which I could write on, perhaps. Compared to some other brands, that 8mm sounded pretty thick. However, just putting a few 1 oz coins in it made it sag so far I don't feel comfortable putting the binder on the shelf! Maybe it will work for dimes...do any of you really use these pages with success? Is there a clever way to stiffen the edges? Are they only good for a few small coins per page? I don't have any 35mm slides, so I really don't know what else I could do with them...

Not too sure if I can help. But I have started using the pages for the 2x2 flips myself. Due to the heaviness of certain coins I store the album flat.

Yeah, the binders with pages I have lay flat if they're heavy.

Interesting. I read storing binders standing up was preferred, but now, upon further reflection, I suppose the difference in wear (or whatever) would be minimal. Thanks! Oh, I even removed the plastic binder inserts, which center papers, since I figured that would put undue pressure on the coins closest to the spine. Any other tips? I'm pretty new at this.

I generally store my binders in file boxes and drawers with the backs upward. The pages hang down from the binder rings. I haven't had any problems, except that 3" binders get pretty heavy when full. The 1" binders seem to work best for me.

Great idea on hanging them, Gary. I'll bet the boxes get pretty heavy, too, if you put them on a high shelf...Thanks!
