Stamped across the Treasury Seal is another number in black ink. I can make out the last 4 numbers which are 3640 but I can not read the rest. What is this?
It’s a random, miscellaneous stamp. It’s not a BEP error and was done after the note left the Bureau.
Tellers tend to stamp the bands on packs of currency with their teller stamp once the notes are counted and banded. Many times this is haphazardly done and part of the stamp is on the notes instead of the strap. The partial number was more than likely the bank routing or a teller number.
