Yeah, but not a great idea to get them to buy them from these machines. From what I read, the prices are pretty high versus spot price.

No, not in any way, shape, or form. The Sassanids invented this coin denomination, and the muslims took it and greatly expanded their use. At no time was silver more valuable than gold, usually about a 12-1 ratio, but if you really want to know I can calculate it for you. But no, gold was always more valuable.
