I have a 1970s penny that has a few interesting things on it. I am new to this type of coin collecting so wanted to get you guys take on this. The 0 in the date has something interesting on the top part of it and in the Y in liberty the right part of the Y is missing part of it. Also there is something strange with the R and T and part of the S in the date looks filled in.
The filled "S" is the result of a die chip. The damage on the letters on "LIBERTY" are more than likely from a coin roller/wrapper.
Same thing. Think of the coin being turned as it's being wrapped. One of the banks I use has a manual roller and a lot of the end coins get damaged. Some with one or two devices being affected and some with a ring carved deep into it. The thickness of circulated coins varies which explains why some are affected more than other
