I guess I am looking for an identification/history/reference to information as much as a value. I have looked on a few sites trying to identify the period the coin is from but navigating through some of them is an art in itself!

This coin is about the size of a US nickle. Sorry for the resolution, but its a pretty old scanner I am working with. :)

Wow...there is over 500 different variations of this coin from the page you linked me to! I thought it would be easier to identify hehe. How can I make my scan more clear? Any tips?

Try scanning larger & then reducing as needed. If you can get some better scans, but have trouble adjusting the size email them to me at eberling at gmail.com and I can do it for you.

I should note it's most likely from Corinth, but there are a couple other places it could be from.

Is it silver or bronze? Hard to tell from the pics, but it looks like darkly toned silver maybe?

Nevermind! I think you hit the nail on the head with the second link....wow. 345 BC! Thats pretty freakin old! It's only worth 300 bucks, but I dont think I could sell it for 3,000. I have had this coin for a long long time....and always wondered of its origins...of who all in history might have held it..paid for thier bread with it...died with it...

Thanks alot for checking it out for me. :)

I havent had the guts to try and clean it..its very dark like lead colored. I'll try to scan it larger and see what I get.

    Don't clean it.If you do,your $300 coin will be worth about $30...seriously.
    By the way,it is silver.

I only wish I had found it in better condition. :( The house I found it in was built around 1890 (Texas), so no telling how it ended up there.
