I found this nickel and noticed it was a little strange. First off it weights 4.8 g. Next without measuring it it's slightly thinner then a normal coin.
Any reasonable thoughts would be appreciated.
    Thanks

I think it was kidnapped and tortured by someone's clothes dryer....

I was thinking that but the edge seems to have not been damaged like a dryer coin has.
    Normal weight is 5g.

I'm thinking it's a planchet issue. That and very worn dies. The sharp edge on the obverse that cuts off part of the 9 in the date looks to me like a piece of lamination broke away after the coin was struck.

It looks like it was damage in some fashion outside the Mint.

I'd have to say, PMD all the way, without a doubt.

Worn dies and PMD. 4.8 grams is within tolerance.
