The amazing thing is this guy has been selling hundreds of these "sets", and 99% (plus) of his feedback is positive. A few smart cookies posted the truth. Here's one: "Read the listing carefully, I wish I had." And another: "This is by far the biggest sham of all. The ad provided is not what I received." The seller is doing nothing wrong, just using one of the clever marketing ploys that seem to permeate eBay's listings. But like Caz states, buyers fall for it all the time.
I also think it's wrong to use the word "collection" and "lot" with a picture of a huge collection, and then tell you that your getting a fraction of that. Lastly, I hate that they lie saying (and these instances are in other seller's listings) that the collection came from some older person or they acquired a huge hoard of coins, when you know dang well they are a dealer and they just piece this stuff together.
Marketing gimmicks. You give me $34.99 and I'll give you $10 or less worth of modern coins you can get from change at Wal-Mart. Some people fall for the title and the picture, without reading further, so yeah, exactly what the seller wants people to do.
From the listing: "Each lot will contain at least 10 pieces. The picture below is a sample of the items contained in this lot.You WILL NOT receive all of the items in the picture."
