Just curious what seasoned collectors do with their coin. Seems stupid to hide it in a box or safe. Also seems stupid to put a couple k in coin in a display case with a neon sign flashing valuable over it. :bangg:
I don't display coins, as I don't have either any want to, or any good way to do so. However, it might be stupid, but I do have a small display stand with maybe $3-5k worth of antiquities displayed within. I use it as a coffee table downstairs. Chris
In Utopia, coins are displayed openly all the time and enjoyed. Here, because of greedy, desperate and untrustworthy freinds, relatives, neighbours, crackheads etc., we keep them locked up and out of public view.
I have raccoon's (children) under 6 in my house that like shiny objects, so no, none displayed at my house but even when they get older, I keep mine locked up.
Check out this thread: http://www.cointalk.com/t158725/ There are some nice photos of typical coin displays by CT members.
I have a friend who has something similar to this don't know where he bought it: But quick googling showed this company USA display
I do not have a store or shop to display it . The best thing I can do display it on net. You tube..Like this one.
AHH!!! Why aren't those beauties 2x2'd or even slabbed??! Such beautiful coins though. I especially love the Columbian expo half. My favorite and the most significant commem. Being the first official US commem and all.
Unfortunately I treat my coins like my other collectibles. Safely protected and in a box unseen from sight. I wouldn't mind getting something like that tray though, it looks pretty cool.
Night Stand / end table display. I got bored and made a display in an end table with a glass top that I use for a night stand. No one see's it but me and my wife but with the addition of a rope light it made a cool night light. I just added random coins and stuff. Nothing too valuable.
I got an antique secretaries desk with the 2 door glass cabinet that I display some of my Proof coins in and a shadow bow meant for shot glasses I got from a hobby store that I use for some of my other proof commemoratives.
