Hey gang! I had a little free time this morning so I decided to go through a couple of mixed date or partial BU rolls of Ikes I had on my desk. I found 3 examples of this doubled die reverse. It's most easily seen in the stars but there is doubling and notching of serifs almost all over the reverse. I snapped some quick pics and I wanted to share.
I want it! Thats a really sharp looking DDR. Typically, this reverse is coupled with a DDO. PM me some purchase information.
Probably not for sale yet. I have a large group of Ikes going to the plastic factory soon. I'm probably going to throw these in with it. I will let you know when they come back tho via PM.
Hey Lee, what do you think that will grade? 64? Dutch, why does it look almost burnished? Is that just a byproduct of your photography?
Yeah I think all 3 of the coins are 64/65's. I do think the burnished look is from my lighting. I shoot a lot of pics of Morgans and Peace dollars... so I think this is just a byproduct of my lighting.
The fields sure are nice on that coin, but the face has too much going on for a 65 imho, unless they think they're planchet issues.
62-63 on the photographed coin at PCGS due to the marks on the face and neck. Possibly the same at ANACS who, other than ICG, is the only TPG which will attribute them.
