It's a great set to collect. The history of the program and each coin is enough to keep a person busy for some time.
Commemoratives are one of the most satisfying series , you can collect them all , or just certain series like Civil War issues , I try to get one whenever I find a nice example at a decent price . I already have the two I've always wanted the Isabella Quarter , and the Lafayette Dollar . I picked up a California about a month ago . Most of these are affordable in MS-65 but some really get up there . It's a challenging set , so have fun and learn a lot of history .
I have been working on the modern series of late and it is almost complete in silver and clad. My goal, one of these days, is to own a 1935 Hudson, NY Sesquicentennial. Its a special coin. I was born there.
One of the most artistic coins in the series , really like yours . Looks like a lot of different colors in there .
Here is a very sweet set of '35 Texas commems. Old no-line NGC holders, too. I have been on the fence about pulling the trigger but I haven't yet. Lance.
Somebody mention a tree in Connecticut? Not a tree, but they have been known to gnaw them down...... Welcome Jeff. As you can see, there are some here who share your passion.......
Nice set, it's a shame the Frisco one didn't all tone like the northwest quadrant on the obverse. I like the Philly reverse and the Denver obverse.
I was sure Connecticut was at least a 65. Nice coins. Didn't at least one of them from from Teletrade?
The more I look at the coins, the more I really enjoy all of them. I would see them in the rebook and didn't really think much of some, but when I buy them and they come in the mail, thats when I fall in love with them. My favorite example of this was the 1936 Norfolk, the design is so beautiful firsthand. Green - Really pretty Connecticut, mine is and AU raw, I have two PCGS 65 albany, one old rattler with green sticker and the other in the new standard slab. I saw a good price on ebay and couldn't pass on the second. Onecenter - I have a Hudson, sent it in but it came back cleaned I am thinking of cracking it out and putting it in my raw coin book. Ikeigwin, you have some awesome coins there. Any thoughts on great places to buy coins online or trade with others? Jeff
A lot of beatiful early commemoratives . Now is the time to buy them too . The series is down from their high in '89 some costing 1/2 of their '89 price . Plus we have a lot more people starting to collect them that started with the moderns .
