This often amazes me as well. I took the opportunity yesterday to look back at this thread, I started back at post #1. There are literally hundreds upon hundreds of jaw dropping, stunning coins on this thread. I couldn't even hazard a guess at the total amount of money spent that is represented by all the beautiful coins "acquired" on this thread, it has got to be easily north of a million dollars.

The other cool thing about this thread is that it not only allows you to show what your latest addition is, but to see what other collectors are up to. This thread is truly interactive and I think it represents a lot of what makes the hobby fun, sharing our passion for collecting coins.
Definitely one of my favorite threads.

Its a common date but I love the toning

 

While sorting coins in the raw boxes for Holsonbake Numismatics, I stumbled accross this Bust Half.
Its a significant date and thought it would look good in my Dansco.

Well, after $40K in debt to get the Master's. Then working professionally for 9+ years in one's chosen profession and finally get a management position...people can be entitled to spend thousand(s)/yr on coins.

I'd likely spend much more, but three little boys and a stay at home wife require dollars be spent elsewhere.

 

Tell the wife to get a job.

I'll be going back to school to pursue becoming a CPA, but even once I do get that job and I start making good money, my wife will still work, I don't care how little money she's making. It's the principle of the matter.

 

It's easy Ken, I limit my wife to buying 2 pair of shoes a week and I smoke cheap cigars and drink bottom shelf booze. Presto, coin buying money!

Well I've been saving for months, selling things on eBay to get money for the 1928 peace, since I'm 17, a student and have no allowance, I've been scrounging.

 

I know I know not the best of photos. I will get betters one soon but dinner was getting cold and I gotta tear through it all to see whats in it. But Craigslist did it again. 2 hours away from town a man was offering 600 piece coin collection. I grabbed the wife and we hit the road. There is over 200 wheats, over 50 indian head cents, two silver certificates(one atheist), 10 Large Cents, 2 Half Cents, 1 half dime, 28 V Nickels, a couple buffalos, two cent pieces, three cent piece, Some silver jeffs, so some older jeffs, a couple of buffalos and three flying eagle cents. He wanted $275 for them I offered $150 and he accepted. I am going to grub down and dig through them. I am excited.

Just pick this one this week.

 

I am to lazy to go up to my shop to get my red book!!!! I know this for sure my 1st mint set & Proof set buys were 1956 both of them were in cello. not cardboard.
I know 1955 mintset came in Cardboard&late year 55 were in cello mintset in cardboard and they toned very well !
but Proof were more boxed a very few were in cello that why the 55 Franklin Proof is a key date to grade PR-67 Cameo. wow that was a lot of brain cells ago and I hope I did not have a brain fart on answer:foot-mouth:.
