Cazkaboom One for all, all for me.

As for the grade, I don't know. As for the toning, I believe tarnishing would fit the description better, not a fan of the colors. Did you dig it up?

Don't think that's the type of toning that interests many people, and if it interests you, sir, you've got some exotic taste...

As Caz already stated, "tarnish" would be a better adjective to use for the color(s) you see on this coin. :)

Grade? Well, looks like there's a little rub on the cheek and hair of the Franklin bust, so somewhere between AU55-AU58. Don't think I, or any reputable TPG for that matter, would call this a "mint-state" example.

I would grade it AU58 with full bell lines. I can see the wear on the hair and cheek on Franklin, making it lightly circulated.

The bare finger handling may not help it along either.. :hail:

Well, it is slightly protected by the tarnish though.. :D

True, though Bennys cheek is rather out there in the open~~

Handling the coin like the OP has is probably what caused the tarnishing in the first place. ;)

I'll call it AU. edited I'm a big fan of coins with this type of toning and yes it is called toning. It looks to be a coin that had a bit of circulation and was put away many years ago. Probably put away before many of the folks in this thread were born. There is nothing exotic about collecting coins that have toned like this.

Looking at it, I kind of like the overall look of it actually.. would like to see it in hand to make a final decision. I can't offer anything on grade though...

    Looks AU. Weird toning though.

That type of toning is actually pretty common. It's fairly typical to find coins toned like that from old albums, and often in original Mint Sets. And it is not unheard of to see coins with toning like that graded as high as MS67.
