Was curious about which coin you think is most out of place, and liked the least in your collection, but at the same time is still a nice example enough that you want to hang on to. I think mine is this follis of Galerius. It has a wonderful patina (though not one that likes to be photographed ). Thats the only reason why I got it tough . Galerius AE Follis. 311 AD. GAL MAXIMIANVS P F AVG, llaureate head right / GENIO AVGVSTI, Genius pouring libation from patera, S to left, three vertical dots in right field, MKV in ex. ric 65
Strike another X to Galerius. Its not a coin that I love & have thought about using it in trades but havent due to the cost to replace it. This coin was $10 at Long Beach this past Feb. & I dont see myself wanting to spend more on a coin of his as I find them very boring, as with most Genius reverses in this time frame. So I have kept it.
Since I'm not a modern guy, I have a proof 2010 native american dollar. Doesn't go well with the early Canadian stuff I have, the early commems and early American copper.
I started getting into ancients and was going to follow a chronological time-line. I have a number of coins from the early jewish revolts that are about the size of a tear-drop. Nice to look at online, but not very appealing in hand.
Mine, though not ancient, would be my 1958 Mexican Peso, 10% Silver, but not sure of the rest of the alloy, it sure is a nice design when it is in MS condition, but super ugly like this:
the only coins i hate are the non circulating legal tender crap and i would certainly never have them within a million miles of my collection. look at the latest abomination from somalia.....................
