I did pretty good today... bought 30 dollars in halves, 10 dollars of Sacs, and 10 dollars of quarters. Heres what I got: 2 1968 D Kennedys 1 1974 Kennedy Cleaned or prooflike? 1 1979 Kennedy with a rainbow toning 1 2000 D Sac, uncirculated 1 2005 West Virginia quarter, uncirculated
If you got these from a bank then none of them are "uncirculated." They are almost uncirculated(AU) at best. Nice pickups still though!
Maybe, but it looks like the copper is shoping through. Of course that could be due to lighting or toning. Can you take a better & larger pic without the flash ?
Not necessarily so. You can get uncirculated coins in change from the bank or the local 7-11 - or any other business. An uncirculated coin is defined as one without wear - it doesn't have anything to do with whether or not it's been in circulation. Circulation is defined as being used in commerce. So technically you can find uncirculated coins in circulation. It happens rather often in fact.
ok....here are some more pics....I couldn't get a good one of the obverse....too shiny.... I think it might be polished...the reverse doesn't seem as shiny as the obverse....
the obverse is in pretty good condition, and the reverse is in excellent condition, except for the area at the edge at about 1 o' clock....
I realize it sounds like a contradiction in terms, nonetheless there have been a great many coins pulled from circulation that have been graded as Mint State. And this isn't just something new that the TPGs have done. It has always been that way.
Hmmm.....hard to tell from the scan. Might have been an early strike? Looks like it could be XF-45, possibly AU-50.
"Uncirculated" is a grade, not a history. It means the coin bears no evidence of having been in circulation, not that it hasn't been circulated. All coins are, technically, "circulated" by the time they hit the street.
