Buddy has a Silver Eagle graded Uncirculated by NGC for $43.00 Is that a good price or not? He is not the type that you can barter, so $43 would be it. Cheapest I can find one on feebay is $48 shipped, but that does not mean anything.
Uncirculted is not normally considered a grade so that much over spot is not that good of a deal IMO. I would consider it the same as a RAW coin.
Wouldn't most new silver eagles be considered in "uncirculated" condition? In that case I wouldn't buy it.
Unless it has exceptional eye appeal, I'd offer him 40 tops. Silver spot is down slightly, and it isn't like your paying for the slab.
Maybe he will crack on $40, IDK. He buys from people too, so I assume he has to make a few bucks on his return. He has about 20 of them, I will look to see if any have a good looking tone.
Not really. Silver has kinda dipped recently. If you really want it, silver will probably go back up(might take 20 years). The bullion is worth about $29.00 currently.
Unless there's something special about the coin that makes you like it, like toning or something I would pass. Personally I don't really care if its only graded uncirculated, I'm buying the coin not the slab.
doesn't make it worth. BTW you can get then graded gem bu without a number for about $10 if you submit a bunch.
Who says the slab is worth something? Let's say I have a very worn 1970 Washington Quarter that might grade F-12. If I had it slabbed would you pay $20.25 for it?
Never buy the slab, buy the coin at the price you think it's worth. As for the ASE at $40, I'd pass. You can get these from bullion dealers online or locally for likely a few dollars above spot.
